Au Clair de la Lune: Easy Duets and Easy Piano Sheet Music
Au Clair de la Lune is a traditional French melody built from very few notes and simple rhythms. It is a staple first piece for young pianists, and works well as a duet for two instruments.
About our arrangement: Our easy piano arrangement is in C major with large, clear notation, a letter name on each note and the original French lyrics above the staves. We also publish easy duets such as oboe and bassoon.
Our arrangement is available on Sheet Music Plus.
A first piece for generations
This French folk song has been taught to children for centuries. The melody uses mostly repeated notes and steps, so it fits a beginner's first hand position.
Easy piano
An easy piano version usually keeps the melody in the right hand over a simple left-hand accompaniment. It trains hand independence and basic reading skills.
Duets
In a duet, two instruments share the melody and a supporting part. Playing with another student teaches listening and counting much faster than solo practice.
Tips for teachers and parents
- Have the student sing the tune before playing it.
- Use a slow, steady pulse and clap the rhythm first.
- Praise accuracy before speed.
